Managed Auto Competition Reform
Managed Auto Competition: After years of mandating uniform rates for all companies, the Insurance Commissioner introduced managed automobile insurance competition to Massachusetts effective in April, 2008. Companies must now file their own rates and compete for your business.
Competitive Rating: Most companies are using rating tiers based on many factors to calculate their premiums. The highest discounts go to existing customers with good driving records who insure their home and multiple autos with the company. However, even without a loyalty account or multi-car discount, most safe drivers should receive a premium reduction. Whereas, inexperienced operators and drivers with surcharges may see premium increases.
Agency's Role: As an independent agency, we represent several of the largest insurance companies in Massachusetts . Overall, our companies have filed very competitive rates. Some companies will give nearly 80% of their clients a premium reduction. However, our job will be to make sure our clients receive the discounts they are eligible for. In cases where we feel another company can do a better job for you, we do not hesitate to recommend a change.
Additional Discounts: Moreover, all companies still give the standard discounts for air bags, low mileage, anti-theft devices, MBTA passes or drivers age 65 and over. And, some companies are even giving discounts for hybrid cars, good students and students away at school. For the first time, you can receive an account discount on both your auto and home policy.
Contact Us: Since it is now a buyer's market, we invite you to contact our agency by telephone or e-mail to obtain a competitive quote. For the most part, our insurance professionals just need vehicle, driver and coverage information to prepare a quote. A copy of your current policy would be helpful. Usually, we can send you a quote the same day.
Agency Relationship: Finally, we not only sell you an insurance policy but provide an ongoing relationship for all your service needs. You deal with the same person each time you call the office. We are locally owned and a fixture in the community since 1949.
We invite you to call our agency with your questions or to request brochures explaining the new competitive auto insurance market.
